SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Big prizes and free summer hol activities!

As we head into July I've rounded up my comp wins for June and so far it has been my best month of 2016 in terms of the number of prizes. I scooped a book, some granola, a Virgin Experience Paintballing day for four, a bottle of Mon Paris YSL perfume, £200 worth of Primark vouchers, £5 Love2Shop voucher, two tickets for a preview screening of the new Ab Fab film, some sandals of my choice, a top from Select Fashion, a DVD for the kids, a DKNY beach towel and some Givenchy aftershave for the hubby. And already for July I've managed to bag a weaning bundle for my nephew and a £100 voucher for Scotch Beef. Needless to say I am chuffed to bits - long may it continue!

In the meantime it's over to you guys for my pick of the big three comps for this week; good luck!

Manchester Airport is offering you the chance to win an adventure holiday for two to Greece for seven nights. Simply enter here before midnight on 15th July.

Seasalt Cornwall are giving away a holiday to Cornwall worth up to £3,000. Just join their mailing list here before 31st July.

Regent Street has £1,000 shopping experience up for grabs. Submit your details herebefore 25th July.

July 29th is the last date you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. After that it'll cost you a hefty £99.99 (current price). Upgrading is available to those currently using Windows 7 or 8.1 - if you go to the Windows 10 upgrade page and click 'upgrade for free' it will download a Get Windows 10 app. Once running the app will then guide you through the upgrade.

Apple is running free summer camps for children aged between 8-12 years. Taking place at their UK stores the interactive camp runs for three days offering three different workshops; Coding Games and Programming Robots, Stories in Motion with iMovie and Interactive Storytelling with iBooks. You can book online here but be quick as places are limited.

And Tesco are offering free cooking courses for children aged 5-7 and 8-11 taking place at their larger customer cafes. Spaces are first come, first served and you can register and find a course near you here.

That's it for this week, but I'll be back next Wednesday with some more great comps and special offers. Stay lucky!

Good luck and happy comping!

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
