SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Hey Big Nose!

March is a pretty busy month in the world of comping; we’ve had World Book Day and coming up are two other big events – Red Nose Day and Mother’s Day. You’ll see a collection of Mother’s Day comps listed here with more being added all the time and Red Nose Day will also bring a variety of promotions with it.

On the day (which is Friday 24th March) there will be lots of promoters running comps associated with the event, but there are ones already running in the lead up to the charity day.

Some of the competitions may require a little donation from you; for example Sainsbury’s are doing their annual scratchcards for Comic Relief which cost a £1 but which give you the chance of winning prizes too; such as a shopping spree weekend in New York, iMacs, iPads, iPods and Sainsbury’s vouchers. And every penny you pay for the scratchcard goes straight to Comic Relief.

If you’re feeling energetic then you could try out this dance comp ! For every video uploaded Fitbit will donate £15 and you’ll be put into a draw to win 1 of 10 Fitbits. So get on those dancing shoes!

And if all that dancing leaves you a bit peckish then hop on down to your local Sainsbury’s and pick up a promotional pack of Heinz Beanz or tomato soup and you may just bag yourself a £1,000 holiday voucher!

Keep an eye on social media, using the hashtag #ComicRelief will help you search out any specific posts and if I spot any I’ll let you know via our Facebook page .

Enjoy your week!

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
