SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Friday’s Comping Chatter!

This week has flown by, albeit rather expensively for me! My washing machine decided to give up the ghost and my car broke down. So that glass of red wine has my name all over it this evening!

I hope all my SP’ers have had a great week though, and if you’re at a bit of a loose end this weekend then why not think about applying for the new series of Tipping Point? They are currently looking for contestants and applications are open until 14th April.

For those of you that don’t know, I appeared on Tipping Point a few years back and was lucky enough to get through to the final stage where I won £2,300. I love this show as it’s part luck and part knowledge which means you don’t have to be the brain of Britain to win. And also just the experience of going onto a game-show is a fantastic thing to happen and will leave you wanting to apply for more. I’ve done three now and one of my resolutions for 2017 is to try and get onto another one. I’ve not spotted any yet that take my fancy but if I was able to apply for Tipping Point again I 100% would!

If you need some hints and tips for game show applications then take a look at my guide here and don’t forget you can always contact me via our Facebook page if you need any further help. So what are you waiting for? Go on, give it a go and make sure you let me know how you get on.

Have a good weekend!

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
