SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Win a dreamcation to Cornwall!

All this week it's National Stationery Week, so keep an eye out on social media for any themed comps that promoters might run alongside this. It's ongoing until Sunday so there is plenty of time to get in on the action. Using the hashtag #nationalstationeryweek will help search out any current comps. I am a bit of a stationery geek to be honest so I'm looking forward to entering some comps for this! From 28th-30th there is also the Tour de Yorkshire; so if you are local to the area you may well find some competitions running with this theme too! And to top this week off nicely we have another bank holiday to look forward to which usually also brings a host of different comps our way.

Now if you head on over to our Simply Prizes website you will find a selection of great competitions to get stuck into! My favourites of the moment are an indulgent mini-break to Paris with a year's supply of coffee thrown in and a London hotel break with a rather nice £1,500 to spend!

And take a look at the comp I've found to share with you all; a three-night stay at in the family friendly 'Stargazers' house for up to 10 people at St Mawes Retreats in Cornwall. Just enter your details here before midnight on 5th May to get your name in the draw.

If like me you're partial to a Krispy Kreme doughnut or two then you may want to check this out; Krispy Kreme are giving people the chance to play their giant slot machine with the chance to win some yummy prizes. There are a whole host of different goodies to be won across each location visited; such as Hershey's chocolate bars, doughnuts, t-shirts, vouchers and one person will even win a year's supply of doughnuts! All you need to do is visit the slot machine at any of the following locations and chance your luck!
  • INTU Norwich - Wednesday 26th April
  • INTU Bristol Cribbs Causeway - Wednesday 3rd May
  • Birmingham New St. Station - Wednesday 10th May
  • INTU Manchester Arndale - Wednesday 24th May
  • Leeds Station - Wednesday 31st May
  • INTU Gateshead - Wednesday 7th June
  • INTU Braehead - Tuesday 13th June
  • Edinburgh Waverley Station - Thursday 15th June
  • Bluewater Shopping Centre - Wednesday 21st June

The Sun is offering two free tickets to Thorpe Park; just collect 10 tokens from the newspaper from now through to 9th May, complete the booking form which you can get from the newspaper or download here and post off. I did this with their Chessington offer and then by using my Tesco clubcard for the kids I've managed to get a completely free day out at a theme park, saving myself almost £200 (if I were to buy on the gate)! You will need to select different date bands in preferential order and it is first come, first serve so my advice is to get it posted off as soon as you can. Although I didn't get a school holiday date I did get a weekend day which I was more than happy with. You can get more info here about the Sun's superdays.

Be sure to head on over to our Facebook page where you will find a selection of competitions; it's also a wonderful comping community where you can chat to other compers and share your own comping news and advice.

As always keep an eye on my blog over at Simply Prizes for more competition news and chat.

Good luck and happy comping!

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.

Chat soon!
