SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Who said summer is over? It's time to dust off those flip-flops!

I've finally had a winning email for October!! Yay! A runner up prize through an Argos comp which gives me £100 worth of vouchers! And what with the expensive month of December looming, that will go straight in my Christmas box. Don't forget that you can let me know about any wins you have, and if you are featured on our Simply Prizes letters page you'll bag yourself a tenner. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the full contact details.

However, onto this week's competitions and with the colder weather on its way I've found some prizes that will warm you up - good luck all!

Lakeland are offering you the chance to win a Cuisinart soup maker; simply share your favourite flavour soup with them and enter your details here before 6th November.

The Mail Online is giving away a 14-night family break to Florida which includes return economy flights for two adults and two children, accommodation, 15-days' car hire, plus access to some of Florida's top theme parks. So, dust off those flip flops and get your entries in here before 20th November.

Your Home Magazine has a Hypnos wool bedding bundle worth £365 up for grabs. Submit your details here before 3rd November.

Toys R Us has a Christmas payment plan where you can spread out the cost of expensive toys in the lead up to the festive season. Shop till you drop and pay just a 20% deposit and then collect your items once you've paid the final balance. There is no interest to pay, just a £5 admin fee. You can get more information here.

The Entertainer has its buy one toy and get another for 1p sale back! Its due to end on Christmas Eve and items up to £64.99 are included in the promotion. You can browse the toys here and they offer free delivery on orders over £40 or free click and collect within 30 minutes of ordering!

I spotted this the other day when my daughter got a puncture; National Tyres and Autocare centres are offering a free puncture repair (worth over £8) - a charge will still be made for valve and balance but you can grab a bit of a saving with this promotion. Terms and conditions apply and it is valid until 31st December 2016. You can get more information and the voucher here.

If you are fed up with cooking this half term and fancy a change then head on over to your local Hungry Horse pub where up until 30th October you can treat the family for just £15 (2 pub classics/pub favourites, 2 kids' meals and an ultimate BIG Candymania to share). No voucher needed and drinks not included.

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
