Well I've got to say March has started with a bit of a bang for me; I've already won a case of wine, a gorgeous lace table cloth, a £15 River Island voucher and a necklace and perfume set. Three of those prizes were won from Instagram and the other from Facebook so social media is proving pretty lucky for me at the moment. Now talking of luck you might just want to keep an eye on our website over at Simply Prizes ; we have some pretty big changes up our sleeves and I can't wait to share them all with you soon! In fact because of these changes, my emails will be coming to you on a Tuesday from next week. I'll tell you much more about why in your next update, but in the meantime keep your eyes peeled for more very soon!
Happy 1st March! I love the start of a new month, the end of month comps are out of the way and I can concentrate on a new batch of promotions and hope I receive some winning notifications from the previous month's entries. March is also a pretty big month in our house as it's my birthday and Mother's Day! So win or lose I always have a great one! Plus the weather usually begins to pick up too so I like to start looking for comps that have prizes with an outdoor theme; such as things for the garden and days out. I will also have a round-up of wins from February and tot up what I won. Don't forget to do the same and let me know via our Facebook page . Any that are featured on our website will bag a tenner!
We are in the throes of half-term here in Kent and luckily so far we've been blessed with some sunshine which has meant that the kids and I can get out and about without having to spend a fortune on indoor activities! My two also like having a little dabble in my hobby so we're planning on scouring the supermarket for some goodies that have shop to win comps on them and the local paper also has a good selection of 'local' comps that we can enter too; for more tips on kids and comping head on over to my blog at Simply Prizes.

I always love the start of a new comping month; happy 1st February everyone! I plan on having a round-up of wins in the next few days for January (I always allow a few days in the hope of some last minute end of month ones coming through) and think about what I would like to win for the coming month. February can be a pretty good month for competitions as promoters will often celebrate the 14th (you know the one!) with some giveaways. I've already started to see a few Valentine's Day comps doing the rounds and I'd advise keeping an eye on the social media pages of your favourite companies. Peachy Loans and Poundland are ones already running promotions and I'm certain there will be more to follow.

I'm feeling a little bit blah this week! I've had no new wins since pretty much the start of the month and January is definitely beginning to drag for me. I'm trying my hardest to keep at the comps but am actually starting to feel quite de-motivated; entering lots and winning nothing! I know this hobby has its highs and lows and that I need to persevere, but isn't it hard when you're not reaping any rewards? If you're on the same wave-length as me, head on over to my blog where you will find some hints and tips for beating the 'dry spells' of comping.

So Monday was officially called Blue Monday and acknowledged as the most depressing day of the year! Blah! However, for us compers there were lots of #bluemonday comps doing the rounds....which actually made for a pretty exciting day. It got me thinking that having a 'comping calendar' is a pretty savvy thing for us so we can prepare and enter as many comps as we can on days that have a theme! So keep an eye on my blog over at Simply Prizes where i'll keep a look out for any days that may attract promoters to run competitions! The next big one to keep an eye on will be the Chinese New Year which falls on the 28th of this month.
Okay hands up, who has the January blues? I think most people feel really sluggish and down in the dumps during January and February; the weather is still rubbish and with no sign of nicer, brighter days it can be easy to feel a bit blah! I try to get out when I can if the sun makes a brief, weak appearance and I'm entering comps like an Olympic athlete in the hope of winning first place! Around this time I do start to think of summer holidays so with that in mind take a look at this week's comps - and if you're lucky enough to win a holiday you can always pack me in your suitcase!
I hope you all had a great new year; I was very wild and was in bed before 9pm! I did treat myself to some bubbles though and the fireworks woke me at midnight so I did see it in. I love the start of a new year in the comping world; I make a wish-list and completely re-organise my comping which always makes me feel like I'm starting afresh. My comping resolution for 2017 is to be more organised so I've already got my spreadsheet set up for the whole of the year and I'm excited to start filling it up! I had a bit of a break over Christmas (I needed that to recover from the advents!), so now I really am raring to go. I'd love for you to get in touch with your comping resolutions and wish-lists - you can either contact me at info@oxonpress.co.uk with WISHLIST in the subject line or let me know via our Facebook page.
I hope you all had a smashing Christmas; we had lots of fun here and the kids were so pleased that Santa had brought them all that they had wished for. It's about this time that I like to have a small break from the comping (after the madness of the advents!) and a round-up of prizes from the year. 2016 wasn't the best for me in terms of how many wins I had, but I did manage to scoop some pretty decent prizes which included two holidays, £500 cash and £500 worth of children's clothes all of which were amongst my top wins. There were other wins along the way too and I find looking back over them gives me a real buzz for what this next year might bring! I also like to create a wish-list; which gives me something to work towards over the next 12 months - such a great feeling if you get to cross any off the list!
I'm pretty pleased with how the advent comps are progressing so far for me. I've been lucky enough to win five prizes; a calendar, some alcohol tasting tickets, a DVD, a gorgeous pair of earrings and a stocking full of kid's film merchandise. I also had a surprise win of a book turn up from a competition I entered back in November. I am spending quite of lot of time entering and averaging probably about 3-4 hours a day. The first round of the 12 days of Christmas has finished with some promoters now but there are some new ones doing the rounds alongside the others that are running for the full 24 days.
I've taken a bit of a break from comping this week as the advents start tomorrow and I want to be fresh and raring to go!!
