SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

How to make next week's cold weather bearable

It's wet and more cold weather has been forecast, but maybe that's ok! I mean let's get the worst of the weather out of the way while we are in lockdown, so we can look forward to spending the summer (and hopefully the spring as well) enjoying cafés, pubs and meeting friends.

This isn't what I thought during the first lockdown. Then I was saying 'can you imagine doing this in winter? Queuing for shops in the rain? 'No chance' I said, but they have got us doing it, and without too much complaint either, it's just another painful part of lockdown we have got used to.

But now my focus is on planning to enjoy getting out of lockdown, nothing too big; no plans for a trip abroad or anything. But the idea of a sunny afternoon in a beer garden with a couple of pals almost seems within touch (and I think Lizzie would even give me a 'pass-out' without too much nagging).

Let dreams of summer give us a bit of insulation against next week's cold and here are a couple of comps to help as well...

Win an afternoon tea for four in central London - closes 28th February 2021 - click here to enter

Question: Which part of London is the Kensington Hotel located in?

Our advice: South Kensington

All the newspaper articles I've recently read say that most people are planning to holiday in the UK this year and everything is getting booked up. I hope this isn't true as holiday organisation isn't one of my strong points and we have nothing sorted yet, so this could be a life saver...

A week's holiday at MacDonald's Farm Touring & Camping - closes 31st March 2021 - click here to enter

Question: How many minute's walk is the nearest beach Porthcothan?

Our advice: 10 minutes

And if you are looking for a special Valentine's gift, check out what you could win on the Simply Prizes free Valentine's Day competitions page, there are almost 60 comps listed already: Click here to enter them all.

Look out for an email from me on Saturday morning with details of cash comps worth over £500,000. Winning one of these would help the summer come along even faster!

Stay safe.
