SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Friday’s comping chatter!

Happy Friday all; I’m looking forward to the weekend to get over the first week back to work and school – although the son has a football match tomorrow and I’ve no doubt that it will be freezing! So I’m planning on lots of hot chocolate and a big comping session for Saturday afternoon.

How did everyone do in the advents? Most promoters will have notified winners now and I’d love to hear how you did. You can email me at info@oxonpress.co.uk with ‘advent wins’ in the subject header. And don’t forget with any that we publish on our website we pay a tenner too. I did pretty well and top of my advent wins was an overnight stay at the local zoo! I’ve got a luxurious room with breakfast at the Port Lympne mansion hotel and entry to the reserve to look forward to at some point in the next few months. I also won some really gorgeous rose gold earrings worth £95 which made an extra present for my daughter. Alongside some other bits and bobs I was pretty pleased with my haul from the advents 2016.

I’ve been really organised so far this week and I’m staying a few days ahead of closing dates and entering as many as I can during my comping sessions in the evenings. Now that the frantic month of December is out of the way and the advents all but forgotten about I’m looking forward to working towards my wish-list for 2017. I can’t wait for us all to start sharing our wins together soon – you can catch me on our Facebook page most evenings so feel free to drop by for a chat!

Have a good weekend!

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
