I often mention Freebie Friday on our Facebook page asking if any of my fellow compers have been lucky. I’ve had a few responses and messages asking me exactly what this is; which has made me realise that us oldies (at the comping malarkey) can get a bit complacent and think that everyone must know what Freebie Friday is!
For newbies to this hobby it is predominately the busiest comping day of the week (apart from end of month comps) where promoters post Freebie Friday competitions. Usually just running for the day (or possibly over the weekend) they offer fairly high chances of winning due to the short closing nature of them. They nearly always appear via social media, so Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will be where the majority are found and you can search on pages like Twitter using the hashtag #freebiefriday. This will bring up comps that are posted by different promoters who have used this hashtag. Hashtags are a great way of searching social media for trending items; so you can use this across the board with comping. Even just searching #competition or #win will bring up results. Although Twitter is the main user of hashtags you’ll find them appearing regularly across other social media pages too now.
Our sister service The Competition Club features a variety of these every Friday and you can access them through their membership which also offers a 3 month money back guarantee.
