I was extremely lucky to win two tickets to The Pride of Britain awards last week. Unfortunately for me I couldn’t go, but Best Magazine were kind enough to let me give them to my friend. She popped her glad rags on and mingled with the stars! Her Facebook page is literally covered in pictures of her with celebs! It’s lovely to be able to share prizes though, it makes the hobby extra special.

With Christmas getting closer and closer I’m going to start featuring some comps that could help towards that big day on a weekly basis. Every little helps!

The School Run has a competition to win a 16GB iPad mini worth £269; log in or register and fill in the gap with Digital Age. Closing date 23 October at 15.53.

TV Choice has a year’s supply of Weetabix, Emma Bridgewater goodies and a retro radio to be won. Simply enter your email address to be in with a chance. You can enter this comp every day until the closing date of 24 October.

Kiss FM has a fridge full of cool prizes up for grabs, including an iPad mini, Sennheiser on-ear headphones and a £30 iTunes voucher. Submit your details and answer the following question; Snowbombing is held in what country? Answer – Austria. Closing date 25 October.

From now until the big guy’s appearance, I’m going to start featuring some money saving tips and good buys in preparation for that festive day.

By law if you spend £100 to £30,000 on a credit card, even part payment, the lender is jointly liable. So if the retailer that you bought a Christmas present from goes bust pre-delivery, you can get money back from the credit card firm. The same applies if the item is faulty. This isn’t the credit card company being nice by the way, it’s a legal protection that was bought into place back in the 1970’s so that you never have to pay a debt on something you either didn’t receive or wasn’t exactly as it should have been. This applies only to credit cards though, not debit cards.

Cheap rail tickets are released 12 weeks in advance, so if you are looking to travel over the Christmas period, check this out now. Cheap fares are snapped up quickly so it’s worth looking as soon as possible.

John Lewis announced on the 10 October that all electrical goods they sell will now carry a two-year guarantee at no extra cost. This also includes home technology like games consoles, cameras and audio equipment so it’s worth checking this out if anyone’s Christmas list includes these items.

Have a good week.
