It seems that not only is 2013 proving to be a funny old year for the weather again, but we’ve heard from a number of our subscribers that it is also proving to be a strange time for comping. Several dedicated compers have reported difficulty in winning any prizes at all. And whilst this is frustrating and sometimes de-motivating, I want you to remember that for every competition you enter, there will be a winner and often runner-up prizes too.

All compers experience dry spells – and when you are going through this yourself, it is good to try and enter smaller competitions with smaller prizes (these generally have fewer entries and so make your chances of winning stronger).  Even the smaller wins can get you back on track!

I comp regularly, some weeks I don’t manage as many as others, but on a whole I enter roughly around 300 competitions a week. I try to vary the type of competition I go for, so as much as I would love to sit there and enter cash, car and holiday ones only, I am realistic about the fact that these have a huge amount of entrants. So the bulk of my entries are for smaller prizes. Even the tiny little wins give me a buzz! It is good to enter daily ones as they are only open for a short amount of time and comps that require a bit of work and brain power attract fewer entrants. Keep an eye out for ones that are local too, these usually are restricted to your local area so again are great to enter. And to motivate you all, I have won a massive 14 prizes so far for May.

So hopefully if you are suffering dry-spell don’t let it de-motivate you, and here are three great competitions to enter right now, and they all close this month so you won’t be hanging around to find out if you win.

I’m off on my hols at the end of this week, so will be taking a break from comping for a few days, but I would love to hear some winning stories from our readers when I get back! So keep at it, I have selected a couple of comps to spur you on and I’m sending some extra lucky dust to you all! Have a good week. Happy comping!
