With the hubby still away on business (albeit with a very quick trip home at the weekend to see the kids), my Granddad breaking his hip and my car breaking down I've not had much spare time to comp at all! And with the start of half-term next week I'm beginning to think I need to write off the comping month of October! I want to be fresh and raring to go for the onslaught of the advent comps which will begin in just over a month's time. For any of you fairly new to comping, advents are basically daily competitions that promoters run in the form of an advent calendar. I'll give you more info on this as we get nearer to the month of December but it can be a very exciting comping period; so watch this space!

We've nothing much on the agenda here - although we do have some tickets to use that I won a few months back which will amuse the children for one of the days. But if you're struggling on ideas take a look at the Forestry Commission; they have a free autumn learning activity pack which can be sent to your inbox for hours of forest fun! Some outdoor air to tire out the kids can only be a good thing!

 

If you are heading off to London at any point make sure one of the sights you check out is The View From The Shard. Not only is it pretty amazing but kids go free over October half term so you can save some pennies on your entrance fees! I don't know if you remember me talking about Ikea's free prize draw back at the start of the summer, but it was a pretty popular comp as everyone won something - and it's back! Just buy something and scan your Ikea loyalty card (you can sign up here if you don't have one) and you are guaranteed a prize! Getting the card through the post can take up to 4 weeks so in the meantime you can use the temporary paper card (which you'll need to print out if you sign up online) at the checkouts. On your till receipt there will be a unique code which you need to take to the Ikea family kiosk in the shop and get it scanned. On doing this you'll get a voucher telling you what you have won. Some of the smaller prizes can be claimed instantly but the bigger ones such as the holiday will be dealt with via the store manager. If you don't want to hang around in the shop you can also check your prize online via the Swipe a Surprise. This promotion is ongoing until 20th November.
