I won a place on a cookery course, spending the whole weekend at the gorgeous Swindon Park Hotel, North Yorkshire, getting passionate about food!
My husband Pete and I were star-struck as Rosemary Schrager was running the course, teaching the ten of us want-to-be chefs, how to cook for 'dinner parties'! If you have been watching 'Ladette to Lady' on ITV you'll recognise Rosemary as one of the team dedicated to creating ladies out of ladettes in just five weeks! She's a fabulous woman, brilliant chef and witty to boot- she taught us with so much life and enthusiasm! We weren't quite given the strict regime the 'soon-to-be ladies' received at Eastnoor castle!
The whole weekend was fantastic. We were cooking three course lunches every day and even got to eat what we had made.
An excellent guide; Rosemary had us creating a steaming chicken and potato pie, baking fresh bread, preparing herb stuffed poussin, whipping up a light avocado mousse and making mouth watering ice creams.
You name it; we learnt how to cook it! You could tell how proud we all were as we sat down to eat together, chatting away whilst indulging in our own delicious dishes.
My chicken and potato pie is now a huge hit at home and both Pete and I were so impressed with what we learnt on the course, we are quite tempted to go again - even without winning it as a prize! It would be good to see Rosemary again too - she'll remember Pete, as she nicknamed him 'Bumble' for the weekend!
I won the prize through a Fruisina Fruit Sugar competition in Family Circle magazine. If you fancy meeting new people, learning how to cook new dishes and tons of fun, keep your eyes peeled for more prizes like this...
