SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

What would you do if you won a beehive?

So far, this lockdown doesn't seem as bad as the last one, but then again, I don't have much of a social life to lose!

But even if it doesn't get stricter, the nights are drawing in and the weather means going out is far less tempting anyway. So, if you want to give your reading a boost, a subscription to Readly is a great idea and even better here's your chance to win one (closes 29th October 2020):

Question: How many magazines are available to read on the Readly app?

Our advice: 5,000

And if you want to get more free competitions join Simply Prizes' editor, Sammy, on Facebook and Instagram. Sammy's just getting going on Instagram and would love you to share comping photos and tag us.

I've been talking about comps that look like they are a hangover from the first lockdown and I can't make my mind up about this one? The prize looks like it should have been offered in Spring, not deepest Winter, which is when the winner will get it. But the question is current, either way I'm sure it won't attract as many entries now as it would have earlier in the year.

Question: Why is autumn the best time to use Lawn Magic?

Our advice: Because it strengthens the roots before the onset of winter.

Now when I think of a beehive, I also think of people in full protective kit, but here's your chance to win a beehive that doesn't need the kit, but I don't think you'll get honey from it either.

Question: Which crop appears on page 22 of the November issue of Grow Your Own?

Our advice: Brussels sprouts

Last Thursday I promised that I would tell you about some truly amazing holidays that are in Coffee Break Winner at the moment, but then I remembered the chance to win £500,000 and thought that you could pick any holiday you wanted if you won this. If you haven't entered this comp yet and want to, just click here to join Coffee Break Winner, and you'll find it under the 'last week's comps' tab.

And I promise that I will tell you about those holidays on Saturday.

Stay safe and good luck.
