SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

6 JUN - Fancy a new iPad to enter your comps on?

I had a brilliant week away with the kids and hubby! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in York - made even better in the knowledge that it was free due to a win! However, I'm back into the normal routine no, the kids and husband are back to school and work and I just need to wade through thousands of emails and get back into the comps. I do love having a little break from the comping though; it always leaves me refreshed and eager to start again. So my plans this week are to enter as many as I can and get into the swing of things for June.
I hope you guys all enjoyed last week. Being half-term, I'm guessing that some of you may have been a bit hit and miss with the comps too, but make sure you head on over to our website this week as a brand new batch of comps were added yesterday and there will be two more updates tomorrow and Friday. With a huge amount of goodies up for grabs including things like holidays and cash you need to start entering straight away - as they say you've got to be in it to win it!
Plus take a look at the comp I've found to share with you all this week; Netmums are giving you the chance to win a bundle of films and an iPad Mini 4. Simply enter your details here before midnight on 19th June to get your name in the draw. Good luck!
Are you treating the man in your life for Father's Day? I've seen deals at several eateries including Toby Carvery offering dads a free Stowford Press cider, a Heineken or bottomless soft drink with a main meal; Hungry Horse are letting dads eat for free from 6pm or have a free drink with a brunch meal, and Chef & Brewer will put you into a draw to win a pair of Premier League football tickets when you pre-book plus a third course free when you book and dine after 7pm. They'll be plenty more offers up for grabs at others though, so make sure you look at your favourite restaurant's website before you book.
After searching for accompanying comps running alongside National Vegetarian Week a few weeks back, I found that Asda do a wonky veg box where you get a fairly big batch of veg for just £3.50. They contain 5kg of fresh produce! They are only while stocks last but they have a limited number delivered each month into participating Asda stores. Keep an eye on the Asda blog or social media pages for news of the next delivery.
Also be sure to head on over to our Facebook page where you will find a selection of competitions; it's also a wonderful comping community where you can chat to other compers and share your own comping news and advice.

Good luck and happy comping!

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
