SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Countdown to Christmas!
I hope everyone had a great bonfire night weekend and now with that and Halloween out of the way, it really is the countdown to Christmas! For me, November is all about getting as organised as I can before the 1st December as most of you will know that is when the advent competitions start. For those of you new to this hobby, advents are basically a countdown to Christmas Day in the form of competitions. Lots and lots of promoters run daily comps in the form of an advent calendar. And because most are daily competitions you can have a good chance of bagging a prize. It is an idea to be selective however, as advents can literally run into hundreds and there just isn't enough time in the day to enter them all. For Simply Prizes members keep an eye out for something exciting happening soon; I'll give you a hint - it's something to do with the advents!

Now talking of Simply Prizes be sure to head on over to the website where you will find a whole host of competitions; most take a few seconds to enter and currently listed are ones featuring tickets for days out, short breaks, holidays, toys, things for the home and garden plus lots more!

And I've found a smashing competition for you all this week and one that could double up as a Christmas gift; Netmums are giving away a Sony PlayStation 4 console. I'm sure you all know a gamer that would love this as a pressie! Simply enter your details here before midnight on 4th December. Good luck!

Every November a UK wide scheme called Will Aid takes place. This is run in conjunction with over 900 solicitors and offers you the chance to get a solicitor drafted basic will for a charity donation. All you need to do is submit your postcode on the Will Aid website or phone 0300 0309 558 to find the nearest solicitor, contact them to arrange an appointment saying you are part of the Will Aid scheme and then make sure you make your donation via the Will Aid website taking a copy of the receipt with you to the appointment.

If thinking about advents has got you into the Christmas spirit look here where you will find the dates & locations of the 2017 Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour! There are 42 pit stops throughout the UK this year so you should be able to find one local to you.

Also, pop on over to our Facebook page where you will find a selection of competitions; it's also a wonderful comping community where you can chat to other compers and share your own comping news and advice.

Good luck and happy comping!
