SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Make the most of the last few days!

As we head into the last week of the advents try not flag! It’s at this point that entries really start to decline which means that your chances to win increase! Most people now are really busy with Christmas prep and last minute dashes to the shops so make the most of it and put by a bit of time each day and get some comps done.

Also be aware that although most advents stop on the 24th there are a few select ones that will carry over into Christmas Day and even the few days following; so keep an eye out for those – a lot of compers won’t go near a computer on Christmas Day so you could be savvy and take an hour out with a glass of fizz and get a few cheeky entries in!

We have a Christmas tradition in our house where we actually have our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve; it works really well for us as it means that Christmas day is really relaxed with no rushing around trying to fit everything in around the big meal! And on the plus side for me once the kids are set up with all their new bits I actually get an hour or two to myself…and you know what I’ll be doing! However; if you don’t get the time there are still a few more days left of the advent competitions so good luck if you’re still hard at it!

Do make sure you drop me a line either via email – info@oxonpress.co.uk or Facebook and let me know how you’ve done with the Advents 2016. Any letters featured on our website will bag a tenner too!

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
