SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Till receipts – do you ever enter the surveys at the bottom?

I would be amazed to know of anyone that has ever won anything from entering the survey on the bottom of a till receipt. I looked into this a few years ago and a lot of these are quarterly draws which aren’t just nationwide but also international! So I’m thinking that we probably have more luck of winning the lottery! However I’d love to know what you all think about this and even if any of you have ever won; you can let me know on our Facebook post here .

So this week’s awareness days; where you might find promoters running accompanying comps are; English Wine Week which starts on 25th May through to 4th June, 27th May is the FA cup final at Wembley, National Biscuit Day falls on 29th May, National BBQ Week starts on 29th May and runs through until 4th June and 30th May is the late Spring Bank Holiday. As always the best way to search for any comps is using hashtags in the search bar of the social media account you are using.

There will be a new batch of social media comps added to the website tomorrow, so good luck if you are planning on entering those. I’m going to be super busy as I’m off on my hols Sunday so probably won’t have much time for comping! I’ll be back next Friday but as always will be contactable via our Facebook page internet signal permitting!

I’ll be around in the evening tomorrow though via our Facebook page if you fancy joining me for a comping chat. And don’t forget that with the bank holiday coming up your Monday update will be with you on Tuesday 30 May.

Have a great weekend and good luck with the comps.

Tuesday Talk! (And a little prize draw!)

There are always hundreds of EOM (end of month) comps doing the rounds and I just wondered how many of you managed to be organised enough to do them? Every month I tell myself to start entering them in the middle of the month by doing a few each day so I’m not so inundated on the last day, but I never do! So tonight I’ll be settling down as early as I can and ploughing my way through as many as I can. (Vowing to myself that things will be different next month, ha ha!)

I tend to be quite organised with my comping routine but the EOM stuff just beats me every time. My main comping time is in the evenings but I do try and sneak some dailies in through the day if I can. I concentrate on staying a few days ahead of the closing dates so I can have an evening off every weekend and I keep a spreadsheet of wins to track prizes.

So, how do you organise your comping? I’d love to hear from you and I’d like to post the best tips on our Facebook page to help other compers get their game into gear! So you can either post on our wall  or email me at: info@oxonpress.co.uk. And at the end of the month I’ll choose my favourite to win a little something.
