SP Xtra: Editor's Blog

Hi, my name's Sammy and I'm the Editor of Simply Prizes magazine. Every week I'll be bringing you an update or two about any interesting competitions I find or any comping news. Plus I'll bring you any competitions or offers I find.

Avoid the scams with Simply Prizes!
That's it - the kids have broken up so there'll be no peace now for over six weeks! Actually though I'm looking forward to some days out with them and having fun at local places. And with that in mind I'm keeping my eyes peeled for any local competitions that might help me amuse the children. We've not got a holiday booked yet, I've decided to do something completely out of character and see if I can bag a last minute deal. And if not, then a staycation will be happening! So to win some tickets for days out would be a real treat!
Now talking of treats, take a look at this belter of a comp I've found for you this week; how do you fancy a stay at a French chateau worth £2,500? Yes? Of course you do! Family Traveller is offering one lucky family four-night's accommodation in a two-bed property with a pool, breakfast and flights to get you there. Just answer some simple questions here with your details before midnight on 10th August! Bon chance!
As a comper it can be easy to fall into the 'dodgy' camp! A watchdog has revealed how it is looking into a premium rate texting campaign, where people have reported being charged fees even though many never opted into it. Back in June reporters said that they had received a text message stating 'U have subscribed to Comp House competition for £4.50 per month until you send stop to 82225'. Another message was sent shortly after with a link in it and then a third message was sent saying they had been charged £1.50. You can read the full story here . Unfortunately things like this can give comping a bad name. Luckily with our competition service Simply Prizes you can rest assured that we never list 'trick competitions' and all of the promotions listed on our website are fully vetted by our team. And if you head on over there now you'll find a whole host of lovely 'legit' competitions just waiting to be entered....and won!
Hollywood Bowl is offering a free ice lolly for kids (under 16) who bowl on a Monday throughout the summer hols. On top of that they have a competition running where you can win a trip to Hollywood and also family bowling for a year! Take a look here for more information and the t&c's!
Also on Monday's until 28th August Krispy Kreme has buy one get one free on their milkshakes. You can get your voucher here .
Ikea has lots of fun activities during the summer holidays every day until 3rd September for children to get involved in. From face-painting to crafting to treasure hunts! Check out your local store here and click on events for details.
Also be sure to head on over to our Facebook page where you will find a selection of competitions; it's also a wonderful comping community where you can chat to other compers and share your own comping news and advice.

Good luck and happy comping!

Week six – summer holiday kid’s comps! The end!

That’s it; the end is in sight - the kids are back to school next week! I actually can’t believe how quickly it has gone and it seems odd as we are still on our summer holiday. Back home Saturday though to a mountain of washing and getting the kids prepped for school. Although I was ultra-organised this year and all school uniform was bought, washed and ironed in the first week of the holidays; which is a nice feeling knowing it’s already done!

And to keep them occupied for the last few days, here are a couple more comps for the kids to get stuck into.

Win some Emoji merchandise by helping the kids to upload a fun selfie. Under 16’s must be entered by a parent. You can enter up to three times every day until 30th November although a maximum of one prize per week can be won by one person. More details and info on how to enter can be found here .

Draw your dream dinosaur and have the chance to get it printed on a giant bean bag and a family ticket to the Dinosaurs of China exhibition. Open to entrants aged 11 and under you have until midnight on 30th September to enter. Full details and entry info can be found here .

Have fun with these ones and remember normality is nearly here! Keep an eye on the website tomorrow for your update of social media comps too. I may not be around tomorrow evening as will be getting ready to leave the lodge early Saturday morning but I’ll catch up with you all via our Facebook page when I’m back.

Have a great weekend.
